I'd like to hear what you've heard, Bill. I'm of the opinion that
transmission choice is like ice cream choice, some of us like chocolate,
others like vanilla. My personal preference is for the 5-speed, but
when I'm driving in stop-and-go traffic, I do sometimes wish I had the
auto. But I digress... and I certainly don't want to start another
5-speed vs. auto war!! I'm interested in any 5-speed problems that
you've heard of. I've heard one case of broken shift forks (at least I
think that was it), something about some metal shavings in the manual
trans lube (supposedly normal), but that's about it. I have also heard
numerous complaints about the 4-sp autos, but since I've never owned
one, I can't confirm or deny their reliability. Any factual info you
can pass on about the 5-speed problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
