I've been slightly more conservative about the weight in my bed. Right now
I have 3 large cinder blocks in the bed weighing at ~150 lbs. I put one on
each side behind the wheel wells and one in the center up against the
tailgate. This weight plus my 75 lb. bed cover gives me about 225 lbs.
Today was our first real day of snow here in Lexington, KY and the weight
did just fine. I'm might have to add more though when things start getting
worse. I put the weight in about a week ago and over the last week with no
snow the truck has been 10 times easier to drive. I don't know if it's
because I can get the power to the ground better or if it's just the better
front to rear weight ratio. My shifts come much easier and much smoother
now. The truck doesn't have as much tendency to dive forward in 1st and
2nd when I depress the clutch pedal. I like it! In fact, if it doesn't
affect my gas mileage too much, I may just keep it in there year round.
