A while back there was discussion regarding the meaning of SLT and improved
'intermediate shafts'
for the steering column. I put these questions to my dealer, Bow Mel
Chrysler, in Duncan, British Columbia and here is the response.

>>From what we can tell, these upgraded intermediate shafts are not made by
>Chrysler but rather by a company call Borgeson Universals. They can make

>are not cheap but they are great! We have replaced a few intermediate
>shafts on some of the new vehicles. Over the years they have changed the
>design of the sliding mechanism some have a little play in them and this
>is the clunk you are feeling. The amount of movement in the shaft is so
>small you can barely see it, but you sure can feel it. If we are going to
>replace the shaft Chrysler will only supply their shaft, unfortunately we
>can't get them to spring for a Borgeson shaft.

>Now for the tough question, what does SLT stand for........I've checked
>with a few people at Chrysler and they are looking in to it, it may mean
>nothing at all it just sounded good at the time.

>All the best of the season, I'll let you know when I get some info on SLT.
