Extended warranty...

Folks,

I am new to this forum, as I have recently ordered a '98 Dakota SLT CC 4WD with the
318 V8, 5 speed, and assorted goodies (pretty much everything except overhead console,
fog lights). Oh yeah, I ordered the 3.55 axle...did not really think I'd need the 3.90.

My last three vehicles have been Toyotas, which have provided me with reliable service.
The other one, my first, was a Dodge Charger R/T...so you could say that I at least started
out on the right track...

Anyway, I have a question regarding the extended warranty. I like to keep
my vehicles for as long as I can (6 years at least), and I would also like to avoid having
to pay to have "little things" fixed over the years. Yeah, I know the warranty is
expensive, but it includes things like rental car allowance, and I figure that it will pay
for itself if I have just one "major failure" during my ownership of the vehicle.

I'm digressing. Obviously, all of y'all have already justified your decision to either
purchase or pass on the extended warranty, and I'd like to hear what you think.

                                                                      Thanks for the help.
