I'm not saying that additives are good (necessarily) or that synoil is bad.
What I am saying is that its value is sadly lacking. What you get is not
worth the heavy premium that you pay. Very much like the folks who insist
on putting 93 octane in a car designed for 87, cause they believe they're
getting "extra" power.
Same with synoil. Modern dino oils supply all the protection an engine can
use. Change it every 5000 miles or so, and it will easily protect your
engine just as well as synoil. Hell, for what synoil costs, you could
change your oil every 2000 miles and STILL come out ahead.
But hey, if folks want to rationalize why they're paying 3 or $4 a quart for
oil, fine with me. But you won't live long enough or drive your truck far
enough to get a real payback on that investment.
