If you're contemplating making a 340 from the current 318 for a Dak
application, you'll be OK, but if you're contemplating using an old 340
block, you're in for a lot of mods. The motor mounts are in different
places, and the older "A" blocks don't even have pads for drilling
where the current Magnums have the motor mounts. Secondly the 340 used
solid lifters - has no means of oiling for the hydraulic lifters.
Heads for pre-magnum and magnum are not interchangeable. These are just
a few I know about. I have an '89 thet is V6 TBI and I would love for
it to be a Magnum 360 with sequential MPI. Still might do it some day.
