Probably so. :-) But there are other daily drivers out there too. =20
When I went up to NY International Raceway Park last year, I parked the Dak
and just wandered around for a little bit. Some of the monsters that were
being backed out of trailers were downright scary. :-)
I think most of the fun of racing comes from having a daily driver=
though.
I mean, what good is a trailer queen? You can race it, but then what? =
Stick
it in your front yard so people can "oooh" and "ahhh" as they drive by? Its=
=20
sort of like having a gun with no ammunition. (Unless of course you've
got the money for a second car that you can't really "use".)
One of the best parts about going to the track happened while I was
in line outside, waiting for them to open the gates. Everyone in line had
their engines off, and the track is out in the middle of nowhere, so you=
could=20
hear the cars as they came to the track. It would be completely silent,=
then=20
you'd hear a big ol' V8 accellerating from the nearby intersection, then=
you'd=20
get to see what you just heard pulling in the entrance. "Ahhh, just a=
boring
ol' Mustang... Hey, a nice purple Challenger! There's a 'Cuda!" The=
trailer
queens may be impressive at the track, but there's something really neat=
about
these daily drivers coming off the street; converging on the racetrack, to=
=20
"run what you brung"...
Ok, I'll shut up now. :-)
