Well, it's really a parking brake, and it is designed to be used for
parking, so I don't see any problem with using it for it's intended purpose
(I do). "Emergency" brake is something of a misnomer.
This has happened to me on a number of vehicles in the past (not the
Dak <knock on wood>), and the fix has always been the same: check the
rear brakes to make sure nothing is binding, remove the parking brake
cables, and lubricate them. It's a pretty easy, though somewhat messy job.
