I had a '94 Shadow ES with a 3.0 liter Mitsubishi V6 and I used Pep-Boys
(Valvoline) full synthetic in it from the first oil change . I also used
the Havolive 10W-30 full synthetic in my '94 Dakota with a 2.5 4-cylinder
and a 5 speed and I ran it about 200 miles a dwy at about 90 miles an hour .
I had absolutely no problems with the Shadow while I had it (I put 100K on
it in 2 years) and in my '94 Dak (I ran it about 70K in 1,5 years) . The
performance NEVER went down and the engines both ran as new when I bought
them . I changed the oil every 3K along with the filter and performed
regular maintenance as well .
I am a firm believer in synthetics . They may cost a bit more , but if you
want an engine to last , they are the only thing in my book !
