ongoing paint problem

Well, as some of you may remember, l am currently having huge problems with
the paint job on my 97. Short story: noticed small "pimples" popping up all
over my Dak. When you washed it...they would pop off and leave a nice little
crater in the paint. Took it in and the dealer finally agreed to repaint
(after calling CC). Got the truck back and the craters were still there in
addition to 3 inch long scratches on the hood, two runs in the paint, and
several spots that looked dull. Took it back to the dealer to fix. Two weeks
later I got it back (this past Friday) and the truck looks the exact same
except there are more scrathes in the hood, the paint on the door has a bad
case of orange peel (that is what the dealer called it), and there are several
more places that look dull (like they over buffed it and took the clearcoat
off). Called CC when l got home to let them know. Yesterday l got a call
from the dealer wanting me to come in. Went in and he told me that he didn't
know what caused the craters, but he would check on it. He said the orange
peel and the small circular scrathes in the hood were "industry acceptable".
He did agree that the deep scratches in the hood needed to be fixed.

Now...the rest of the story. I can not honestly believe that orange peel and
scratches are acceptable flaws on a new paint job. After talking to the
service manager, l found out that their body shop charged CC for a complete
repaint on the truck (approx. $1500 is what they told me). However, he
admited that it didn't "look" like they had done a paint job. Can you say
illegal?!? l am supposed to have a meeting with the factory service rep in
this area some time this week. We will see what he is willing to do about our
problem. Will probably be happy to know that they have been paying for
warranty work that has not been done. Sorry this is so long, but needed to
blow off some steam.
