Exit pipe and exhaust tip question

I am planning on doing some simple mods to my 93 Dakota 4x4 with the V6.
I am hoping to do this for looks and some performance. I would like to cut
off the exit pipe where it starts to bend at the 90 degree angle so that I
can go right from there into an exhaust tip at a 45 degree angle or so.
I would like the tip to come out close to the corner of the bumper or near
the side end of the hitch. Does anyone have any input in this??? Should I
run some 2.5 tube from that cutoff point to the tip so its not as heavy
with a 22 inch tip??? As far as the tip goes, any good ones out there???
I saw ones by Borla, Megs, Monza, I was looking at Megs Sound Tips cause
what it says about the good deep sound they help produce. Not sure though.
I really like Hedman Tip cause they were so long. I think
I will need about a 18-22 inch tip. Also, I would like to tuck the tip as
close to the body, hitch, bumper, etc, as possible for ground clearance
reasons. THANKS ALOT
