But barring some mechanical alteration, I could not prevent the TC from
doing it's thing right? I will do the O/D lockout whenever I will be
driving below 60.

The locking TC seems to be the weak link in high mileage trannys. The less
it gets used the longer the tranny should last. Hopefully...
