I used to work for a warehouse for Hewlett-Packard Computer parts and we
went thru extensive training about static discharge killing computer parts
. They used to say "Static zap turns parts to crap!" .

Anyway , I think the thing that would make the JET module fail most of the
time would either be static discharge , or heat . I noticed that mine
arrived in a static proof bag (that's that silver bag they send it in)
which is just the way that computer parts are shipped and stored . And if
you think that it takes a big "zap" to kill it , think again . Most
electronic components made today , such as printed circuit boards , can be
totally destroyed from a static discharge so small that you wouldn't even
feel it .

I'm not saying that I know when a part would fail , but I bet that AT LEAST
50% of the JET modules that are DOA (Dead On Arrival) when purchased , are
dead from static electricity .
