The air cleaner shouldn't affect the injectors - two different points
of entry for the fuel and air on your engine.

Subject: DML: Am I getting ripped off?
Hey Dakota friends, I need your opinion. I have a 95 with very high
mileage. I have 87k miles on the truck. I recently had the AIS
motor
replaced and Injectors cleaned by Cook Dodge in Aberdeen, MD for $175.
That
was about 3 months ago, (10k miles). Now I had a similar stalling
problem
and took it to Bob Ciasulli Dodge in Toms River, NJ. They told me
that my
injectors were dirty and needed to be cleaned and that my PCM needed
to be
reset. His charge is $165. He went as far as saying the injectors
were so
dirty that they had never been cleaned.
My question is, could the dirt be because I have an open element K&N?
I
remember a long thread about the dirt allowed by the filter? The
filter is
only 4 months old, (14k miles). As for gas, I usually buy the
cheapest I
can find 87 Octane. Could it be gas quality? Should I be doing an
additive
every month or so?
