Max "Y"pipe diameter on stock manifolds

Could anyone tell me the largest I can go with a "Y" pipe with the stock
exhaust manifolds. I want to go with 2 1/2 inch pipes into a 3 inche
system all the way back. I don't have the money to flip for the headers
just yet but I can do the exhaust.
