When you guys start talking Supercharged V6's vs.
your V8's you need to
keep in mind you are talking very different monsters.
First you are comparing
a car vs. a truck. Cars are more aerodynamic and weigh
less (unless you're
                talking a boat).

                I agree. Apples and Oranges.

A supercharger is great for low end power (HP &
Torque) but actually kills
top end due to the drain on the higher RPM band, high
end performance comes
                better with a turbo-charger.

This blanket statement is not quite true. Your powerband
will depend of the type of blower/turbo, its size and configuration
(efficiency rating). The cam(s) and other engine characteristics will
also affect powerband too.

You can have a roots or whipple blower that can reach
full boost at 2k rpm but run out of steam at 6k or a centrifugal such as
Vortech that build boost proportional to rpm. Size really matters in
this case because the larger units generally will supply more volume at
higher speed but may not be efficient at lower rpms. That's why some
turbo car have sequential turbos or even twin turbos.

All that being said, your V8 has NEITHER of
those devices so you are not comparing correct vehicle
types. My little 4 cyl
Shadow with the VNT Turbo would've wasted my V8 Dak even
though it has more
torque and HP(235HP & 310lb torque), because the Dak is
hauling around 4000lbs
and the the Shadow was half that, yet nowhere near half
the HP & Torque
                (180HP, 210lb torque).

Truck would require MAJOR HP to rule the street and
strip so if that's your goal you're doing it the hard way. It's cool to
have a truck that can stomp on a lot of cars out there but don't expect
too much. A lighter car will gain more speed than a truck given the same
gain in power.
If you want to go around trying to beat up on vamped
cars, you'd better
vamp the hell out of your Dak cause you can't just rely
on a normally
                aspirated V8 to beat a "Charged" V6.
