Shift Kit & K&N ?s

Hey DMLers:

I've got a couple questions for you. I'd look in the archives, but two
pupies (human breed) prevent me from having that sort of time. And I
figure you all seem to love replying to any little post anyhow :0)

I have a '93 5.2, 4x4 CC auto with 31x10.5 BFG All Terrains. I've always
sworn by manual trannys but this truck was in too good of shape for the
money to pass up. I've only had it a couple of months and already wish I
had held out for a 5-spd. This tranny never shifts when it should and is
usually reluctant when it does. I have already adjusted the kickdown
band and it doesn't seem to have had any effect.

What does a shift kit cost, can a medium ability wrench install it and
how will it benefit me? I don't expect it will change when it shifts,
but would like it to be decisive in doing so. There's just no dogomatic
tranny that knows what gear I need to be in.

Also, I'm curious if there is a significant performance gain with the
K&N FIPK over the drop in Filtercharger. Has anybody used both and
noticed the differecne? I still have the stock filter and am trying to
decide if the FIPK is worth the extra ~100 bones.

Thanks for any help.

Rob Campbell
