I have read that hum in reverse happens to some trannies. Since you have a V6
and I have an R/T we don't have the same trans. I used to work in a tranny
shop and GM Hydramatics in the late 50s through the 70s would sometimes do
this. The overhaul guy said he didn't worry unless it starts doing it in drive
or low. Something about an air leak somewhere, that was 25 years ago. Anyway
you are not alone with the noise. I would be interested to know if changing
the valve body is a permanent fix.
