Jason,
I have two options for you! The Kenne Bell Ram air kit for the Dak: It
uses a cone filter mounted in a housing and comes with a new airhat as well,
supposedly dynoed @ 8HP on a stock dak. The other is to remove your stock
air inlet tube on the front of the box and route a tube from the inlet to
the panel next to your radiator. Run the tube through the side panel (thin
rubber composite matting) and add as big a cone inlet as you can directly
behind the grill. I used a rubber sewer pipe adapter that goes from the 3"
tube to a 4" inlet. Thats what I use (for now) and it seems to work as good
or better than any aftermarket with the K&N drop in! Since You're in Vegas,
until the other cone filter kits come with a shroud and a cold air duct I'd
go with the KB or the home made!

Subject: DML: Air Intakes: 360 vs. Cone

I've been schem'n to replace my stock air box, but would like some
advice as to whether to go with a K&N cone or go with a 360 filter ala
Meldrum. My main concern is heat. I recently moved to Vegas and the
summers here are killers. For that reason I feel like I should go
with the K&N cone, but then again, when its a hot day here it's not
like the cone would be breath'n cool air; so, then I think I might as
well go with the 360. For those of you in similar climates, can you
give me some advice? Anybody got an opinion on which gives the better
performance?

Thanks,
JY
