Try useing brass wool. Boat yards always have it, some big hardware
stores will carry it too. It will NOT leave bits of iron imbedded
that will cause rust stains, and the brass is a much softer metal than
steel, so it will not scratch hardly anything. Beware, I have used
brass wool and had no problems, but the 3-M scotch brite pads,
even though they are a plastic of some sort, have scratched stainless
pans at home.
