Ouch! I had the same wheels on my 87 Buick and never used the steel wool
method...Never Dull worked well on them. Steel wool sounds scary...I can
rememer the brand new $300 BMX bike I ruined by cleaning it with an SOS
pad. :

I didn't say I used this every time I washed the car--only if the
buildup got really heavy and I had no other way to get it off (usually
once or twice a year). But, I assure you I wouldn't have done this to
my four brand new chrome wheels if I had any doubts.
