If you have the stock intake I can't see how you'd get enough water in
there... As I recall, the filter box is like six inches deep! At most you
might get vapors. If you have the open air system (FABM like mine), I
haven't gone through any really deep water but I've coated everything (including the top of the cab) with about 2" of mud. When I opened the
hood I didn't see any mud on the air cleaner.

If your worried and have the open air, I've seen a gauze, ear muff, type
thing you can slip over the filter? I haven't considered this for mud but
I was thinking of getting one for when I do some beach driving this summer.
I wanted to give the K&N a little help filtering out fine sand particles.

Have fun!

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten water or mud in their air intake
(especially the mudfooters among us). The reason I'm asking is that we're
planning on taking our '98 on a trail ride in a few weeks. I was looking at
the pics of the same trail on the last two years, and they get into some
pretty good puddles. (http://www.co4x4.com/tim/gallery.html, Swiftrapids
'97 and '98.)

I know the intake is designed to pull in cool outside air. I'm wondering if
it's in a spot where it's going to pull in water instead?

Thanks.
