Colder plugs

After installing the MP perf. comp on my '95, it was
pinging on WOT burning ~100 octane.(3/4 tank with 104+
booster) so I decided to put in colder plugs.. she'll
still knock a little bit at WOT (limited mostly to
going up hills). I'm thinking the pinging is due more
to carbon buildup than anything else..

should I take out the colder plugs if I don't need them
after decarbonization? Are there any ill effects of
running a plug that is too cold?
