Hello every one, first post here.

Sorry Mike, but...
The V8 can get better mileage "in some circumstances" than the V6. I
purchased a 92' Dak (3.9L, 4x4, CC, auto, LE trim) in Jan of 98'. Usually
got 18-19mpg highway, but the smaller engine didn't have a lot of torque to
it to pull itself up hills & into head winds, so it would drop out of
overdrive & unlock the torque converter, increasing the engine RPM from
about 2k to about 3k. The higher RPM would burn more fuel than my new Dak
does on the same hill & head wind since the 318 has enough torque to grunt
through the wind. I live in North Dakota & was it ever windy today
(30-35mph south wind gusting to 40+mph), on my way to work my new Dak never
downshifted once from overdrive or unlocked the torque converter, not even
over hills into that head wind & the lowest mileage I saw (on the overhead
counsel was 15mpg, about the same as I get with no wind on the same road. It
may not be good mileage, but it is consistent! My old 92' would have only
pulled 13-14mpg in the same situation.

Sorry for the long post. I mentioned my NEW Dak!!! Flame Red 99' Sport+,
318, FT-4x4, trailer tow package, Club Cab, Tire & Handling package.
Purchases 1 month ago as of last Wednesday, 1100 miles so far. No mods,
YET!!! any suggestions?
