Re: Questions from a new Dak owner...

You didn't say if you had a 6 or 8.......

Every once in a while, my worthless 8.5mm Jacobs wires will stray a little
too close to something metal (like the air cleaner housing or valve cover)
and start arcing, even tho' my 'new' plugs are only gapped at 0.035".
Anyway, on my V8, this just sorta produces a rough idle at the stoplight and
maybe some slight 'jerks' when I'm cruising down the road, so then I know
one of wires is arcing somewhere. Sometimes the arc is easy to find,
sometimes I gotta warm the engine up and stick it in the garage with the
lights off to find the arcing. The wires also cross-fire, especially up
around the distributor. At one point, most of the wires were arcing to the
metal spark plug sleeves, so I took those out and haven't had any more
arcing there.

If I were you, I'd upgrade to Magnecore wires first chance you get. I plan
to do the same in the near future. As far as mods, since you have a heavy
4x4, stick with mods that enhance low-end torque, like a relatively
small-diameter exhaust pipe, esp. if you have the V6. If you do much
traveling at higher speeds, an aero kit will help your mileage, esp. a big
air dam on the front if you don't go off-road too much and maybe a tonneau
cover. Just remember that the money you pay for all this could be used to
keep it stock and buy lotsa gas, but that's no fun :^)
