Sorry , the 318 is out , not available in the Quad Cab , the new 4.7 Liter
is in !
You will probably get better mileage with it since it is an OHC engine ,
but don't expect miracles with a truck .
The 318 and 360 have *never* gotten good MPG ! I have always had a V8 Mpar
, as well as some turbo Shelbys , and the smalll blocks from Mopar just
cannot get the mileage that people like . I think that is one reason they
are ditching them .

>Mobil 1 - Decreases friction greatly over regular non-synthetic oils so it
of course will improve gas mileage. Right?

Just synthetic motor oil will not make a noticeable diff.
Try getting hold of someone like Royal Purple , Amsoil , or Redline and
change *all* of your fluids , including tranny and rearend to synthetic .
This might get you some noticeable results , maybe .

>Plugs - I like NGK GR4, and Bosch Plat +4's, has anyone found ones that
are better? 0.40" gap is the best for gas mileage on Daks right?
>Bed Covers - Do these actually help improve gas mileage? If so, by how
much? How much do they run?

I dunno about the bed covers , but stay away from the Bosch+4 plugs . Many
here have tried them and do not like them . I don't know about the NGK ,
but remember , they are usually designed for Japanese vehicles .
Most here run Champion truck plugs with no complaints .

Remove two of the doors , shorten the wheelbase , and reduce a *LOT* f
weight .
I would expect the Quad Cab to be pushing around 4500 pounds , just a guess .

Also try a K&N air filter and maybe headers .

Yes , these are usually for going fast , but if you keep your foot off the
gas they should help your MPG as well .

HP & MPG are related , both require that the engine run as efficient as
possible for any given result , it's just a fine balancing act .

Good luck .

vehicles. I am very familiar with Neons and the Shelby Turbo cars of the
80's. I try to give advice to people on the list and hope that my limited
knowledge on trucks combined with what I know about Mopars in general will
help but if I am wrong on something, please correct me. I'm here to learn,
not to preach.
