Heh heh heh! When I first drove my '96 318 5-speed, one of the first
things I thought was that it sounded like a school bus. :-) I guess I
don't notice it anymore, but my brother has ridden in it and also commented
about the "school bus" noise. An open element air filter and a cat-back
exhaust will do wonders to cover it up though. ;-)

You could pretend its one of those "race" transmissions. :-) That whine
is a source of bragging rights for mustang owners. :-)
