Both tires are basically the same diameter, approx. 25.7". However, the 315
is 12.4" while the 275 is 10.8". Here's how to calculate the dimensions.

315/35ZR17: Section width is 315 cm / 25.4 cm per inch = 12.4 "
                         Section height is 12.40" * .35 (aspect ratio) =
4.34" sidewall
                          Diameter is = (4.34 * 2) + 17" rim = 25.68"
overall tire height.
