Ram vs. Cowl Induction Was: Cowl hood sources

Forgot to ask this...

I have seen ram-air hoods as well for the Daks.

What's the major difference 'tween ram and cowl inductions? Is one
better than the other. Seems like cowl would be cleaner air (less dirt,
bugs, etc), but ram air sound like it would get more air into the
engine.

Any thoughts on this?
