Here's your answer Jack:

The eRAM's motor is made with SmCblt rare earth magnets. they are not
impervious to heat, but highly resistant as you cannot demagnetize them
with high temps or over currents. In the fashion we are using the motor
and the fan unit, it should last for over 50 to 75kmiles as used on a
track/ street car like our company racer that has had the eRAM on over
voltage for two years now without even a brush change.
The impeller is a high strength nylon plastic that will not break .
However, nothing is perfect, and if a melt down was to occur, the screen
will save the problems of parts going into your engine. Most MAF systems
have such a screen anyway, and ours then would not be needed.

Hope that helps, Let me know of any other questions,

Regards,

Mark

HAHAHAHA.....I like this answer they give in the FAQs :

"What is the life expectancy of the ERAM device, and does it require
maintenance?

Answer: The only moving parts are the Instrument quality rare earth
electric motor which is
rated for over 3000 hours. It is impervious to heat and has sealed, zero
maintenance ball
bearings. Because of the low duty cycle (on the race track it is only on
for 20 to 40 seconds a lap
depending on the road course such as Laguna Seca or Sears Point where
testing is done), the
e-RAM unit should outlast your engine."

What the hell is an "Instrument quality rare earth electric motor" ?

Sounds like fabricated mumbo-jumbo to me .
