Subject: RE: DML: DML SERVICE
I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems, but I own 4 Chysler products
by myself, and between my extended family, we probably own over 30!!
Including musclecars--68 GTX's, my '70 Charger, up through the 80's--'87
Shelby Charger GLHS, a turbocharged '82 Turismo built for autocrossing, up
to current models--V8 Dakotas/Durangos, V10 Rams, Neons and Intrepids. I
have experince with most models Chrysler has put out since the 70's and
overall they have been by far more reliable (and most of the time quicker)
than some friends "other brands".
We have had "little" things go wrong which can be annoying, but nothing
major and thankfully, the dealers have been very helpfull. Again it's too
bad your not happy with your vehicle, but I have had no problems whatsoever
with my 98 4X4. Chrysler does still build a quality product and if you
think there are better products out there, then check out some of their
bulletin boards, yes even Toyota!!

John:
I have also been a Chrysler fan and owned Valiants in the 60's and 70's, a
77 Volare, and Plymouth Sundance and had two 1978 Dodge PU's (1/2 and 3/4).
My mechanic is driving the 78 3/4 ton now.
The Dakota is the first new Chrysler that I have ever bought....based on
the $3,000 - $5,000 worth of warranty work, so far,...I have purchased an
additional 4 year extended warranty. The dealers have been great,
everything fixed in a timely manner.
We replaced the Sundance this year, and after much research decided upon a
Toyota Corolla. It has not been back to the dealer for anything in the
first 4 months that I've had it....the Dakota was back at the dealer 1/2
dozen times in the first 4 months. I guess only time will tell....if the
Corolla lives up to expectations (who knows?), then I will take a serious
look at the Tundra in 4 years.
I've been watching the newsgroups (including Toyota) and talking to
different owners.
Flame if you must, I still love the Dakota, that is why I purchased the
service contract....but unless something changes at Chrysler, I won't
purchase another.
