Hey guys,
Thanks for all the ideas and "homemade recipes" (none of them explode, do
they? :-P ), I doublechecked and the marks are indeed on the outside of the
glass (well, on the inside of the windshield, but not in the plastic of the
safety-glass. I'll start with vinegar and water, then go up progressively
from there leaving brake cleaner as a final resort before just realizing
that someday I'll get really sick of those streaks and replace the
windsheild, but hopefully not before I take a rock and talk to insurance.
I'll post my results. Thanks for ya'lls help!
BTW - In Texas, unlike Florida, the insurance company is not required to fix
the glass with zero deductible. Many windsheild repair places don't charge
you your deductible, though, to get your business, so they probably
overquote the insurance company instead. Must be hotter there in FL. Also,
I don't think the dealership is going to buy the warranty idea, though I'd
try it if the haze were inside the glass suggesting that it just did it on
its own.
