Hi all,
I was cleaning the inside of my windsheild this afternoon, and came across
something that about had me sputtering in fury - my windsheild is "stained"!
I look around at all the rest of the glass in the cab, and cleaned each one
before inspecting; all the others are fine. But the windshield has vertical
streaks that simply refuse to even consider coming out near the base and
leading about halfway up the windsheild. When I cleaned the windows this
spring, I checked it out the evening after and thought "man, what a crappy
job I did last night," but never got around to cleaning it again. Now the
windsheild appears to be ruined, because my Windex sat there on the stain,
and I scrubbed like a mad man, and they're all still there!
Here's my theory: The silver, reflective heat sheild that I put in the
window when I leave the truck in the sun (every day, at work and at home).
The heat sheild gets VERY hot, sometimes to the point that I end up playing
hot potato with it. And it appears it's getting hot enough to bond to the
glass, too.
So my warning is: be careful with your heat sheilds!! This one doesn't
have a tag stating it's manufacturer, and I've used it for years, so I don't
recall. All it has is a tag saying "Made in Taiwan." Go figure!
Second, what are ya'll's favorite window cleaners? Windex is seriously
letting me down on this little project, and I'm hoping that there's
something out there that will fix the marks. Please advise, guys!
TIA
