There is nothing you can do to a Dakota to make it any shorter(long
wheelbase = less off-roading) and only lifting it will take care of the
clearance(to a certain limit). Even at that point you are not going to run
trails with the Jeeps or Sami's. Different purpose for the vehicle.

I am taking both my Dakota and my Jeep to the dunes at Silver Lake Michigan
in September. I think the Dakota will put the Jeep to shame. In the woods,
my Dakota can't hold a candle to my Jeep.

You just need to decide what type of off-roading you want to do and buy(or
build) a vehicle to do it.

problem here, torch-cutting/welding skills nonexistent. so would have to
have it installed. how much do you think it would cost to get done?
probably alot.

definitely. but the long wheelbase/small tire effect and low clearance is
starting to piss me off alot. anybody out there with a lifted dakota have
advice?
