I've sensed some hostility for R/T owners on the dml lately(not you G.S.
or anyone personaly), so I figured some Dakota owners must think we're
snobs because we refer to our trucks as R/T's.
To me, an R/T isn't just a Dakota. But a Dakota is no less a truck.
I wouldn't have been interested in buying a regular Dakota, I already
have a pickup(84 Chev). I bought the R/T because of the Motor Trend
story on TNN and I was in the market for something fast.
The R/T is perfect for me in every way, and I'll never sell it.
I've learned a lot from the dml and I've tried to return the favor by
posting on new mods I've done or relating racing stories just for fun.
I've also met a lot of good people because of the dml and Dakotas.
Recently, I've gone into "digest" mode and pretty much quit posting to
the dml, because I DO have more to relate to an R/T owner than a Dakota
owner.
I'm tired of the tow issue too, but it is necessary and the people
involved(I'm not one of them) deserve to be able to communicate.
As for the R/T list being "exclusive" to R/T's, that's their right.
It's your right to create your own list if you feel slighted.
We've done this here in TX, so we can B.S. about things that are
important to US, without loading up other lists with personal comments.
At least that is our intent, we're just starting out.
I believe when Jon created this list, he did and still does, do a great
job of staying out of things and not moderating or sensoring the list.
The monthly rules post is enough and pretty much says it all.
The same can't be said for the R/T list, the topics are fairly limited
and it's monitered and moderated.
Anyway, I hope this explains my position.
I like Dakotas and R/T's, we should try to get along....again.
