Those monitors are probably made here in San Diego were I work (Sony
America), or in Parkridge (NJ).

Pretty much... Also they would have to answer to the local DML too! Along
those lines areas like central/northern NJ we are all within reasonable
driving distance to each other. Much easier on the pocket and less wear and
tear on the unit due to shipping&handling(you should see some of the
monitors I recieve with crushed corners and punched holes in the boxes, and
these aren't cheap monitors either(Nokia 19")!).
