I bought my Dak in Feb.'97 as a daily driver with once in the blue
moon hauling. For the first couple of years, I went with mainly
appearance mods (at that time, there wasn't much in the aftermarket),
went to cruise nights and mopar shows (lucky enough to win a few
trophies for best truck). At the beginning of this year, I decided
to pursue performance goals in 1/4-mile racing (2-3 times a month).

Since getting my Dak (off the line in Oct.'96), I seen the 360 mag.
and 4.7L makes it way into the Dakota lineup...kind of similar to
the muscle car years when tougher and tougher emission standards and
higher and higher mandated fleet mpg brought an end to the 340 and
big blocks.

I suppose when I'm ready to replace the '97 that I'll be choosing
among the anticipated 5.7L Dak, the Caravan R/T or the 2004 Charger.
Current rumours has the 6.1L targeted for the upscale, heavier RAM
models.
