My 2 cents on Ted and the Mustang race

"Just curious, what started this whole race thing? BTW, the 'stangs have

260hp, and only a 4.6. I think you should play with him a little, then
floor it and say "see ya", cause I already know you can do it!!!"

I know I'm jumping in a day late on this one, but I thought I'd pipe
up. 1st off, I'd like to see this 4.7L! Like what I pasted above, I
only know of the 4.6L, and I hope this guy doesnt have a twin cammer
like in the cobra.
Anyway, the mustang may only have 4.6L and 260 hp, but its curb weight
barely tips 3000#. Ted, I really hope you study the weight to
horsepower ratio of your truck and his car before you do this, and maybe
bet someone else you'll lose, that way you have money to cover the $300
if he does take you.
Here's what I see so far.
Mustang: stock 4.6L, 260 hp, .94 horsepower per cubic inch. If curb
weight is approximately 3200#, the pounds per horsepower would be 12.31

Dakota, modified 5.2L, with supercharger, adds maybe 25-50% of initial
horsepower production, (230hp) 287.5-345 horsepower. .90-1.08 hp/cubic
inch. Curb weight with the 4X4 approximately 4400# (these things aint
light) 15.3-12.75 pounds per horsepower.

If you've never seen this before, its a measurement of how many pounds
each horsepower has to drag down the road, and the lower the amount of
pounds per horsepower, the faster the vehicle. The other
ratio-horsepower per cubic inch, only tells you the power output for
that size of motor, but it doesnt take into account if it's going into a
1500# Indycar or a 4400# Dakota.
Therefore, if you think you truck is cranking out over 357 hp by my
calculations, then at least the race would be even, and it would be a
matter of who was fastest out of the hole, what kind of tranny each had
and how each shift was, and how well the gearing matches the vehicle.
Sorry, I'm gonna buck the grain and say dont do it Ted.
Patrick
my honest opinion
