Wihile we're talking cars...
With little more than a cam, headers, and a compucar nitrous system my Z28
cranked out 450HP 523ft/lbs at the rear wheels. It ran 11's @ 122+ on DOT's all
day and I could often pull any where from 23-25 mpg on the highway (w/ 92
octane pump gas). It had a small cowl hood, stock rims, full interior, AC,
stock suspension and a nice stereo to boot. I daily drove it while in college.
And if it hadn't been stolen from me I would have been glad to mess w/ any 11
sec omni! In fact Mike Grahm of the Houston f-body list has made multiple 10
sec passes on his Z, all with stock heads, bottom end, and rear end.

And there are countless other street driven (V-8)cars that can claim the same.

Trucks are a little harder to make fast, but then again an omni was mentioned.
Obviously with the same budget I personally think its gonna be easier to make a
v-8 fast. Its nice to see people working hard to make up for their lack of
displacement but to say that a v-6 or 4 cyl is better than a v-8 (in most cases
anyway) is ludicrous.
