Tom, for what it's worth, when I installed my Lock Right,
they (Powertrax) recommended that I use 85/140 gear oil to
reduce the ratcheting noise, which it did. I've been using
for over a year now with no problems. However, I am in CA
and even in winter the temps don't get down too cold here
so if you're in a very cold area you may want to
reconsider.
