abs sucks in my opinion. i took a course for driving defensively and what
not so i wa taught how to perform threshold braking(squeeze the pedal till
the tires lock back off and squeeze again) and in my opinion the abs does a
fine job of reproducing this technique on perfectly flat pavement but...if
the road is potholed or has those waves in the pavement from semis taking
off
from lights the abs kicks in when you are just casually slowing down and
because the brakes are loading and unloading as you hit each crest in the
pavement the abs ends up overcompensating like mad and not slowing down the
truck at all. pretty scary when your nice gentle slow down to the light
becomes a white knuckle holy f@@@ i'm going to hit that guy. i wish i had a
switch to shut the abs off when i am offroading(useless on washboard). now
hear is a total opinion. i think abs is a bad idea. i think it
desensitizes
the driver with regards to how they respond to the road. all you do is mash
this pedal to the ground and it stops. mash this one to the ground and it
goes. put it in d for this way and r for that way. i pray they never put
fly by wire systems on the stearing like they are planning. no feed back
from road to driver. what an interesting and dangerous generation of
drivers
 that will be.

No matter how quickly you apply your brakes in threshold braking you still
can't compete with the computer doing it.
Get the ABS well worth the money!!!
