William, stay away from those engine additives. They can cause
alot of harm to your engine, like plugging up oil passages
and oil filters. Aside from the fact MOST of them don't even
work (ok maybe there is a couple that might, but not prolong)

If you want to have low friction, once your engine is broken
in run synthetic oil like Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 and a good
oil filter like Mobil 1 or purolator gold (fram and mopar oil
filters suck bad). yes the synthetic oil is more expensive
but test after test has shown you can go 6k to 7k miles between
oil changes compared to 3k-4k for most standard oils.
This helps cut down the costs of the synthetic.
Most tests have also shown that when using synthetic oil
on a newer engine virtually eliminates all wear in the
engine and also keeps the engine very very clean inside,
i.e. no sludge buildup. (info from Honda engineers)

That said please let us not start the great oil and
filter debate, see the archive about 3 months ago for
info and some nice web sites on comparison studies.

OK. Last question for now, I PROMISE. What's the best way to break in
your new Dakota? All advice is welcome. So far, I'm gonna change the oil
at 1000 miles [i'll put in 5w-30 Mobil 1]. Anyone using prolong/duralube
type stuff? All advice appreciated..
William
