Because static crash testing is B.S.
The big difference in this case is the fact they had a 3.9L 2wd dakota for
the one test and a 5.2L 4wd durango in that test. The bigger engine
obviously making the difference by increasing the structural integrity of
the vehicle. The transfer case, half-shafts, upgraded suspension and larger
wheels and tires had a beneficial effect as well i bet you. Any guys out
there with a 4x4 and/or a V8 can rest assured that you would probably do
better than the durango even because there is less momentum to overcome in a
truck as well. Even v6 folks can be confident they are safer in a dakota
than any other small-mid size truck.

I've seen all the poor crash tests, but with the numerous amounts of wrecks
on the RTML, and people coming and writing about the wrecks hours later, I
just think the tests can't be realistic.........
