Yep, that's true. However, the newsgroup itself doesn't create the
threads, it just stores the messages and transfers them to the news
readers; its the job of the newsreader to figure out what messages
belong in the same thread. So, the smarter the news reader, the better
it will be at threading. For example, the reader I am currently using
(xnews) has an option to ignore "re:" in the subject when threading.
That helps a lot, but its not perfect, for sure.
