  Well obviously it varies from car to car but a LS1 (98+ f-body, 97+
y-body (vette)
will typically do 280-320 stock - the 2001+'s are a little stronger since
they recieved
a ls6 intake. The Ls6 vette's do 350-360 stock typically (rwhp)

    Yes GM is "lying" about the HP ratings, though I don't think it's really
as a ploy
to sell cars since they are actually under-reporting the fly wheel hp
ratings. Probably
has more to do with some corporate mandate or insurance concerns.

   The LS1's are certainly fast car's though - there are a couple of bolt on
cars that
are actually running 11's @114-115mph - with cold air, exhuast, and gears
(or big stall
in an automatic).
