Check www.crutchfield.com for the speakers that will fit your budget. If
you go with the 6-1/2" units they will come with the adapter plates and
connectors free of charge. The 6-1/2" ones will fit both the front and rear
locations. I replaced my stock units with Sony 3-way Xplods in the rear and
Kenwood 2-ways in the front. As another non-audiophile, they sound good to
me.

Subject: DML: Speaking of speakers...

I'm really getting tired of the factory speakers in my '99 CC. I upgraded
the head unit to an Alpine about a year and a half ago. I'm not looking to
go overboard, just replace the speakers I have and maybe add a pair of
tweeters.

Any suggestions on some nice midrange speakers? I'd like to keep the cost
down - I'm not an audiophile like my co-worker who recently dumped $15,000
into his 4Runner, mostly on stereo/electronics - but I definitely want
things to sound better and not have to replace the speakers in a year. I'm
not even sure I need/want a subwoofer right now, but when I have the
speakers installed I'll have them route things so that it's easier to add
the required hardware & amp when it's time for the sub.
