Hey David,

 I had the same problem with my 95 cc slt. It is due to an exposed wire near
the tranny (I believe it is a speed sensor wire) that had been damaged due
to exposure to the elements. I soldered the wire and wrapped it up good and
haven't had a problem since. The original problem only happened when I hit
big puddles of water (it was worse in colder weather)
