Well, ahem, first you get this box that's about 5" high, and some odor-free
stuff called litter.....;-)

Okay, ignorance aside...this box and others like it basically replaces the
O2 sensor(s) in your system by presenting the same kind of signal (a
specific voltage) as the sensor would have provided back to the PCM. That
way, those that decide to eliminate their catalytic converter can do so
without their car/truck running badly because of an inaccurate reading or no
reading.
