Hi Andy,
Maybe they had to many airbags going off where they located them in the mid
nineties, but that's where they put them. I believe they are to susceptible
to damage. Glad to hear them moved them. Also sounds like they changed the
design and how they function.

Glancing at my FSM, it looks like the airbag sensors are located under the
floorboards in the driveshaft "tunnel", not behind the bumper. That's for
a '99, I can't imagine it's radically different within GenIIIs.
