ok... i need some help..

i just got a indiglo dash piece and am ready to install it.. now... do i
remove the black factory piece with the numbers on it ?? it seems to be
glued to the clear plastic backing right around the holes where the needles
are..

please help !!!! i have my dash ripped apart right now and can't figure this
stuff out, and the directions aren't helping out at all either....
